Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in history. People are subject to having their identity compromised in so many ways, they all can't be listed here because of space. I have heard more people tell me and others, "Well, if someone wants my identity they can have it." That is such a naive and ignorant response. Identity theft comes in so many more forms than just credit. Imagine your a 25 year old woman on vacation in Hawaii. You start to feel a little sick. As the days go on you need to see a doctor. You go to the emergency room with a high grade fever.
The doctor finds that you have an infection that is easily treated with antibiotics. He accesses your medical records because you are in and out of consciousness and you can't give an accurate account of the medications you are allergic too. He gives you a shot of penicillin and two hours later you are dead. Why. How can this have happened. Someone has compromised your identity and was hospitalized at another facility a couple of months earlier. Unfortunately for you, they were not allergic to penicillin. You were. That's one of the millions of things that can happen. Now I ask, " Is it OK for someone to have your identity now?"
How many times a day is your identity at risk? Did you know that if you use an ATM, that a thief can go up to that same machine after you left it and insert a copy device giving him access to your money and any personal information that you may have at that bank? Many people are not aware of the ways that your identity can be compromised.
